MJ Health Research Foundation was established in Jan 19, 2012. With a goal of promoting health for all mankind, it built a world-class ethnic Chinese health resource center based on expert opinions from across different scientific disciplines. Through managing the health resource center, the Foundation hopes to promote research in preventive and personalized medicine in the 21st centry by providing the richest, most accurate and comprehensive biological data and samples to the biomedical research community worldwide.
History
MJ Health Management Institution (MJHMI), established in 1988, has delivered not only high quality health screening service, but also top notched health management and counseling services through the use of its comprehensive health data to the general public. In addition to providing services on the clinical front, MJHMI also aims to expand its research effort into preventive medicine. As such, MJ Health Research Foundation and its data warehouse – MJ Health Resource Center – were both established in Jan, 2012 to promote the use of MJHMI’s longitudinal health screening data in the biomedical research community. By building an organization dedicated to the management and delivery of large scale health data, MJHMI hopes to facilitate conversion of healthcare analytics into tangible means of improving quality of life in our community.

The mission of the Foundation is to establish a world-class health resource center based on ethnic Chinese population and provide the most comprehensive biological data and samples to the biomedical research community worldwide. Other areas of focus include health management, health literacy, translational medicine and the promotion of innovations in biomedical industry.
Forward Looking Statement
In 2011, the Ministry of Health and Welfare in Taiwan introduced “Human Biobank Management Act”, a legal framework governing the establishment and management of human biobank. MJ Health Research Foundation shall operate within the scope defined by the Human Biobank Management Act and promote healthcare innovation through careful use of its biological data and samples in collaboration with other research institutes.
