Asia’s Largest Health Database with 3 Million Records Unveils “Taiwan’s Ten-Year Health Trends”

2025.08.18

Taipei, August 18, 2025 – MJ Health Management, Taiwan’s leading preventive healthcare institution, today held the grand opening of its 600-ping flagship Taipei Clinic under the theme “Towards 2030: Building a Healthy Taiwan.” At the event, MJ released for the first time its “Taiwan Ten-Year Health Trends” report, based on nearly 3 million health examination records—the largest Chinese health database in Asia. The company also announced its 2030 Health Action Blueprint.

The opening was attended by high-profile leaders from government, healthcare, and industry, including Deputy Secretary-General of the Presidential Office Chih-Wei Ho, Taipei City Health Commissioner Chien-Hua Huang, and Honorary Chairman of the Taiwan Bio-Industry Organization Dr. Johnsee Lee, who joined to mark this milestone in Taiwan’s preventive medicine.

Why Now? From Treatment to Prevention

“Population aging, rising chronic diseases, and escalating stress are the three defining coordinates of our generation,” said MJ President Chün Lin in his keynote. He emphasized that both the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Taiwan’s Healthy Taiwan policy place “Good Health and Well-Being” at their core. “If the healthcare system only activates after illness occurs, society will inevitably bear unsustainable costs. Preventive medicine is not a slogan—it is the foundation of national competitiveness.”

Presenting the Taiwan Ten-Year Health Trends, Lin highlighted five major warnings derived from MJ’s long-term data:

Obesity & Metabolic Syndrome – Taiwan’s adult overweight/obesity rate exceeded 68.9% for a decade and reached a ten-year high of 74.7% in 2024. Abnormal lipid levels climbed to 29.4%, while pre-hypertension rose to 31.8%, with men significantly higher than women.

l Liver Health – Fatty liver has become a silent national crisis, affecting over 52% of adults in 2024—meaning one in two people.

l Women’s Health – More than half of middle-aged women now face low bone density, and over 40% experience estrogen imbalance, impacting metabolism, mood, cognition, and skeletal health.

l Gastrointestinal Health – Helicobacter pylori infection risk increases with age, affecting over 30% of men above 60. Women face higher risks of gastric atrophy, indicating stomach disease is concentrating in older populations.

l Mind-Body Balance – Chronic fatigue (low sympathetic activity) reached 22.9% in 2023, while abnormal parasympathetic activity linked to insomnia, stress sensitivity, and immunity disorders continues to rise, signaling worsening stress-related conditions.

“These are not fragmented numbers—they are real reflections of millions of lives,” Lin said. “Metabolic disorders emerging earlier, liver risks becoming younger, hormonal imbalance, precancerous gastric conditions, and rising stress-related illness are all happening at once.”

Based on these findings, MJ will advance along three key directions:

l Upgrading Preventive Medicine – Harnessing AI and big data for earlier prediction and intervention.

l Whole-Person Health Care – Extending beyond the examination day into daily life and chronic disease management.

l Social Advocacy & Collaboration – Engaging individuals, enterprises, communities, and government to promote preventive health for all.

Chih-Wei Ho, Deputy Secretary-General, Presidential Office: “Taiwan’s National Health Insurance is globally acclaimed, but true national hㄙealth depends on whether citizens take proactive steps—early checkups and early prevention. We thank MJ for aligning with the Healthy Taiwan policy.”

Chien-Hua Huang, Commissioner, Taipei City Health Bureau: “Chronic diseases are rising due to lifestyle pressures. Prevention is the most important investment. We applaud MJ’s precision insights from its unparalleled health database as a cornerstone for Taiwan’s precision medicine development.”

Dr. Johnsee Lee, Honorary Chairman, Taiwan Bio-Industry Organization: “MJ’s upgraded Taipei Clinic is not just a new milestone but a reaffirmation of its commitment to health management. In a rapidly aging society, preventive medicine must move to the forefront.”
